Fertility MOT
The Beginnings Assisted Conception Unit offers a comprehensive fertility MOT service designed to provide you with valuable insights into your reproductive health and fertility potential. Our personalised assessment will guide you towards a clearer understanding of your fertility journey.
What does our Fertility MOT entail?
1. Consultation with a Fertility Consultant:
During your Fertility MOT, you will have a one-on-one consultation with one of our highly skilled fertility consultants. They will take the time to discuss your medical history, lifestyle factors, and reproductive goals. This in-depth discussion allows us to gain a comprehensive understanding of your unique circumstances.
2. Pelvic Ultrasound Scan:
Our specialists doctors will conduct an ultrasound scan to evaluate your pelvic anatomy and identify any potential factors that may affect your fertility. This thorough examination aims to uncover any issues and provide a clearer picture of your reproductive health.
3. Ovarian Reserve Assessment:
Assessing your ovarian reserve is a crucial aspect of understanding your fertility potential. We will measure your antral follicle count (AFC) during the ultrasound scan, providing valuable information about your ovarian egg reserve.
4. Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) Blood Test:
To gain further insights into your fertility potential, we will perform an AMH blood test. This test helps us understand your ovarian reserve and provides essential information for planning your future steps.
5. Semen Analysis (for heterosexual couples):
For heterosexual couples, we highly recommend a semen analysis as part of the Fertility MOT. This test assesses male fertility factors and contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the couple's fertility potential.
6. Comprehensive Testing for Same-Sex Couples:
For same-sex couples, we understand that both partners may wish to undergo testing. Our clinic offers comprehensive testing options tailored to the specific needs of each individual, allowing us to create a holistic plan for your fertility journey.
7. Follow-Up Consultation:
After all the investigations are complete, we will schedule a follow-up consultation with one of our fertility consultants. During this appointment, we will discuss the results and develop a personalised plan based on your situation and preferences. Our goal is to guide you towards the most appropriate next steps on your path to parenthood.
Take the first step towards understanding your fertility potential. Schedule your comprehensive Fertility MOT with Beginnings ACU today. Together, we'll pave the way for your future success on your journey to parenthood.
Treatment Funding
NHS-funded treatment
The integrated care board (ICB), where your GP is based, is responsible for your NHS healthcare costs. Each ICB receives limited funds from central government, which means that it has to set its own priorities. Some ICBs do fund IVF, but usually to a limited extent. Others do not fund IVF at all.
ICBs set their own criteria for treatment to which the assisted conception unit at St Helier Hospital must adhere. If you live within the Merton, Sutton and Wandsworth area and are registered with a GP, you may be eligible for NHS-funded treatment, provided you meet their eligibility criteria.
Self-funded treatment
You may wish to fund your own treatment if your ICB does not fund IVF, or if you do not wish to wait for funding, or if you are not eligible for NHS funding.
We describe the treatment as ‘self-funded’ rather than ‘private’ because the treatment is exactly the same as for patients funded by the NHS.
The charges we make are non-profit-making: they are only to cover treatment cost. All income from self-funded patients is invested back into the NHS IVF programme.
